Eight Tones
These recordings of the Eight Tones of the Russian Orthodox Church were made by Hieromonk Sergii (Shatrov) of Holy Transfiguration Monastery (near Bombala, New South Wales). The recordings are in Church Slavonic and are made available in MP3 format for those who wish to learn the chants of the Russian Church.
The melodies given here generally follow those given in The Precentor's Companion (the Спутникъ Псаломщика), published with the blessing of New Hieromartyr St. Arsenius, Archbishop of Novgorod, in 1916 (and most recently republished by the Printshop of St. Job of Pochaev, Holy Trinity Monastery, Jordanville, NY in 2000).
